Photoshop now supports macOS native full-screen mode – learn how to enable the feature

After over a decade of requests, Adobe has now resolved the issue with how macOS manages windows – here's how to activate the feature.

The discussion has been ongoing for a long time among users of various versions of Photoshop – being able to use Photoshop for image editing while having a "genuine" full-screen mode activated.

Prior to the solution, it was only possible to maximize the window when working with images, at least if one wanted access to the menu for making different settings and choices. The full-screen mode that existed was primarily for the display of images and not for the actual image handling.

With the new release of Photoshop version 25.4, Adobe has now succeeded in implementing the genuine macOS full-screen mode, which means that you can maximize the workspace with a hidden menu that drops down if you move the cursor upwards towards the top of the image – in the same way as it works in many other applications.

The reason why it has been difficult to achieve is due to how macOS handles windows, which has resulted in a full-screen mode previously causing an inability to use multiple screens or switch between different documents at the same time as full-screen mode.

The update is installed via the Creative Cloud app.
