Items are sent up to the International Space Station ISS – and things come back. Last week, Kamera & Bild wrote about the 13 Nikon Z9 cameras that arrived at the space station, partly to document life aboard the ISS, but also for scientific purposes. By photographing and filming in space, we can increase our understanding of how things work.

However, Swedish astronaut Magnus Wandt, who spent 17 days on the ISS where he conducted about 30 experiments, returned home. During this time, we have been able to follow his journey through his Twitter account where he has posted pictures.

During his time on the space station, he had the opportunity to spend time on several occasions in the area known as the "Cupola" or "Node 3" in NASA language. From there, he could photograph sunsets, continents, and thunderstorms.

Another astronaut who has also spent time in the cupola is Don Pettit, who has taken several pictures from the same spot.

– The cupola is absolutely amazing. From here I have the opportunity to see the entire Earth, and out into space in 360 degrees. Here I can set up cameras and take fantastic pictures from the ISS of whatever I find to photograph out there, he told Kamera & Bild in a previous interview.
