Atomos Ninja Phone - turn your iPhone into a monitor & streaming device

Atomos' new Ninja device lets you use your iPhone as a display - and stream 10-bit video in ProRes via USB C to 5G.

Atomos is now releasing the Ninja Phone, which serves as both a video recorder and an external monitor for those who film. Due to its design, the device can be used for multiple purposes.

The Atomos Ninja Phone is compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, turning the phone's screen into a helpful tool during video recording. At the same time, HDMI video can be sent in ProRes or H.265 in 10 bits directly to the phone, and video can be streamed via USB C out to the internet.

The phone's display supports and provides a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG, with support for 1600 nits. This means that the phone's screen can be used when recording in these formats.

Thanks to Atomos's efficient ProRes pipeline, the camera's output is displayed on the iPhone screen without delay, enabling real-time monitoring and playback of high-quality film material. Users have the option to store ProRes-encoded video locally as .mov files or convert it to 10-bit H.265 for smooth workflows from camera to cloud or live streaming via 5G and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.

The device can also be used as a USB C hub for peripherals such as power supply. The device has a locking system for USB and HDMI cables, and can be adapted for both vertical and horizontal recording.

The Atomos Ninja Phone weighs 95 grams. Combined with the iPhone 15 Pro, the gadgets weigh around 335 grams. The Atomos Ninja Phone will start shipping in June 2024.
