Leica continues to release lenses under the name "Noctilux," which was introduced in 1966 for the bright lenses that the named series includes.

With this new full-frame lens, Leica Noctilux-M 35mm f/1.2 ASPH, it also becomes the first Noctilux lens at 35mm for the Leica M system; previously, it has only been available with focal lengths of 50 mm and 75 mm

Leica states that the lens's strengths lie in image performance with a shallow depth of field at a large aperture, smooth bokeh, and sharpness across the entire focus plane, which is well-suited for advanced portrait, reportage, or street photography.

The close focus limit has been extended down to 50cm, unlike other Noctilux lenses, and it has received a completely new construction with special glass, aspherical lens elements through PGM (Precision Glass Moulding). In total, the lens has ten elements in five groups, three of which are aspherical, along with a floating lens element.

The handling for manual focusing is also said to be precise, through the rotation of the focus ring. The lens is 5 cm and weighs 416 grams. The filter diameter is 49 mm.

There is also a lens cap available for purchase, made of aluminum and anodized black, weighing 15 grams - the price is 990 kronor including VAT.

Leica Noctilux-M 35mm f/1.2 ASPH will be available from January 29, 2026. The recommended price is 101,990 kronor including VAT.
