  • The lens has an optical construction with 19 elements in 15 groups, including six FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and five aspherical elements to minimize aberrations
  • The new HLA motor (High-response Linear Actuator) improves autofocus speed and precision
  • The lens is equipped with advanced coatings such as 'Nano Porous Coating' and 'Super Multi-Layer Coating' to effectively reduce ghosting and flares

Sigma is now updating its full-frame standard zoom for Sony E and L-Mount, Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN from 2019, to version 2. The new Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art features improved resolution, new functions, and faster autofocus.

Design-wise, the lens has been slightly modified from its predecessor, including a new aperture ring, while the lens has become about 7 percent smaller and 10 percent lighter. Additionally, two AF-L buttons have been added, as well as a zoom lock button that locks the focal length at 24mm. The length of the lens is 120.2mm and the weight is 745 grams.

The autofocus has been equipped with the new HLA motor, High-response Linear Actuator, which operates at a higher speed than the previous version. The lens is constructed of six FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and five thin polarized aspherical lens elements, which counteract various aberrations.

Additionally, Sigma announces that they have worked to minimize so-called focus-breathing, which is important for filmmakers.

The minimum focus distance is 0.17m at 24mm, maximum magnification is 1:2.7. The lens also features "Nano Porous Coating" and "Super Multi-Layer Coating" which reduce ghosting and flares. The front lens also has a splash and oil repellent coating.

The recommended price for Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art is 16,190 kronor including VAT.
