Fujifilm releases new firmware for X100VI, X-T5, X-H2 & X-S20

Fujifilm releases a second round of April updates for several of its cameras, including the new X100VI.

At the beginning of the month, Fujifilm released a whole slew of updates, including for the cameras X-T3, GFX 50S II. A software update for Fujifilm X Webcam was also released relatively recently, which solved the problems for those who could not use Fujifilm cameras as webcams in MacOS Sonoma 14.1.

Now, Fujifilm has released updates for additional cameras, with bug fixes, new features, and other goodies:

Fujifilm X100VI v.1.10:

  1. Support for enhanced camera linkage in "FUJIFILM XApp" Ver. 2.1.0 or later.
  2. 1) Transfer of RAW images to “FUJIFILM XApp” is now supported.
  3. 2) Once FUJIFILM XApp connects to the camera, you can shoot and control the camera with a smartphone even if the camera is turned off by the “AUTO POWER OFF” mode setting.
  4. 3) You can browse and transfer images to the camera with FUJIFILM XApp even while the camera is turned off.
  5. Note: Be sure to update “FUJIFILM XApp” to the latest version (Ver.2.1.0 or later) to use the new features mentioned above.
  6. Fixed an issue where AF focusing accuracy and distance display varied. Wi-Fi connection performance is improved, enhancing the usability of communication functions such as Frame.io. A firmware bug has been fixed that prevented the area settings in some regions from being automatically updated when connecting the camera to the “FUJIFILM XApp” to synchronize time.
  7. Note: FUJIFILM XApp, Ver.2.0.3, for iOS & Android is now available
  8. Other minor bugs are fixed.

Fujifilm X-T5 v3.01:

  1. The following camera linkage features enhanced with FUJIFILM XApp, Ver.2.0.0 to Ver.2.1.0, are now supported.
  2. Note: The following functions 1) and 2) are supported with FUJIFILM XApp Ver 2.0.0 or later and 3) to 5) are with Ver.2.1.0 or later.
  3. 1) The following camera data, such as registration and operation information, are now displayed in the “Equipment” tab with FUJIFILM XApp. [Camera data to be displayed in the “Equipment” tab in the “FUJIFILM XApp”]・Number of lifetime shots・MECHANICAL SHUTTER・BATTERY AGE・Number of days since the last sensor cleaning etc.
  4. 2) Camera firmware upgrade process becomes easier. The “FUJIFILM XApp” automatically downloads and transfers the revised firmware to the memory card in the camera in the background, so that you can upgrade the firmware anytime.
  5. Note-1: Background data transfer is performed while the camera and “FUJIFILM XApp” are connected via Wi-Fi. Note-2: Once the revised firmware is automatically downloaded, the firmware update information is displayed on the LCD, prompting the operator to update to the latest firmware. Note-3: It will work at next firmware update although the firmware is modified with this version.
  6. 3) RAW image transfer to “FUJIFILM XApp” is now supported
  7. 4) Once FUJIFILM XApp connects to the camera, you can shoot and control the camera with a smartphone even if the camera is turned off by “AUTO POWER OFF” mode setting.
  8. 5) You can browse and transfer images to the camera with FUJIFILM XApp even while the camera is turned off.
  9. Note: Be sure to update “FUJIFILM XApp” to the latest version (Ver.2.1.0 or later) in order to use these new features above.
  10. AF performance is improved as follows.
  11. 1) In Focus Mode AF-C, AF tracking performance has been improved in scenes where the camera tends to lose focus.
  12. 2) A firmware bug is fixed that the AF focusing accuracy and distance indicator varied when using a wide-angle lens.
  13. The following functions related to movie recording are implemented to improve usability at movie shooting.
  14. “WIDE/TRACKING” function is added for focusing during movie recording. In case that the focus mode is set to AF-C, the camera automatically tracks the subject while touching the screen and in AF-S, the camera automatically selects the subject to focus on.・AF/MF SETTING>AF MODE>WIDE/TRACKING
  15. ”FIRMWARE UPDATE” function is added to the setup menu.
  16. Insert a memory card containing the new firmware into the camera and select [USER SETTING] in the [SET UP] menu to update the firmware.
  17. The current procedure for firmware update can also continue to be used as follows.
  18. ・Start the camera while holding down the DISP/BACK button to update the firmware.・Connect to a smartphone application to update firmware.
  19. “AUTO POWER OFF TEMP.” setting screen is now displayed at initial setup, so that you can set the temperature (STANDARD/HIGH) to automatically turn off the power in case that the camera temperature rises.
  20. Note: After updating to firmware version 3.01, a setup screen will appear.
  21. Connecting to “Adobe Camera to Cloud” is now available
  22. Still images and movies can be uploaded directly to the Frame.io platform via Internet connection. This enables direct data transfer from the camera to the cloud and edit them at the shooting location, which allows you to access to still images and movie being created and accelerating movie production work in real time and remotely and contributes greatly to the efficiency of movie production workflows.
  23. Wi-Fi connection performance is improved, so that the usability for the communication functions becomes more comfortable, such as Frame.io. A firmware bug is fixed that the exposure of the images taken changes slightly in case that the “INTERVAL TIMER SHOOTING“ is set at the manual mode. A firmware bug is fixed that the aperture value fluctuates while zooming at “Burst” mode with fixed aperture value. A firmware bug is fixed that the area settings in some regions are not automatically updated when connecting the camera to the “FUJIFILM XApp” to synchronize time.
  24. Note: FUJIFILM XApp, Ver.2.0.3, for iOS & Android are now available
  25. A firmware bug is fixed that the noise reducing effects is emphasized too much when shooting 4K movie under the following setting conditions.
  26. ・Setting condition: “Manual setting” and “DYNAMIC RANGE”>200 to 400%
  27. Other minor bugs are fixed.

Fujifilm X-H2 v.4.00:

  1. The following camera linkage features enhanced with FUJIFILM XApp, Ver.2.0.0 to Ver.2.1.0, are now supported.
  2. Note: The following functions 1) and 2) are supported with FUJIFILM XApp Ver 2.0.0 or later 3) are with Ver.2.1.0 or later.
