Fujifilm's new camera X-T50 features built-in image stabilization, a 40-megapixel APS-C sensor - and a physical dial to change film simulations.

Fujifilm is now releasing the Fujifilm X-T50, which retains the basic features but has evolved in design. Among other things, it is slightly larger - about 5 mm wider and 1 mm taller - than its predecessor X-T30 II and has rounded sides. Among other things, the thumb grip has become more pronounced for better ergonomics. The weight of the X-T5 is 438 grams, an increase of 60 grams from the X-T30 II.

The X-T50 is also the first camera in the X-series to have a control for adjusting film simulation directly during shooting. There are 20 simulations to choose from, as well as the new Reala Ace which we last saw being added in Fujifilm X100 VI.

The back-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor in APS-C format has a resolution of 40.2 megapixels, whose images are processed by the X-Processor 5. This ensures that the image quality and performance reach that of the X-T5. The X-T50 also has built-in image stabilization that compensates for 7 stops.

The autofocus has been improved through "deep learning AI technology" which both finds and tracks subjects and automatically tracks faces and eyes, animals, birds, cars, bicycles, airplanes, and trains. The X-T50 is also faster at tracking fast-moving subjects through improved predictive algorithms.

The electronic shutter has been improved from 1/32,000s in the predecessor to 1/180,000s.

Video can be recorded in 6.2K/30p in 10-bit 4:2:2, 360 megabit, DCI HQ 4K/4K HQ/30p in 16:9, or 4K/60p. Raw format via HDMI supports up to 6.2K/30p in 12-bit 16:9 format. The camera also supports F-Log 2. A new autofocus mode for tracking subjects has been added where the photographer can tap on the screen to select subjects to be tracked during filming in AF-C + Wide / Tracking AF mode.

In conjunction with the launch of the X-T50, a new standard zoom lens, Fujinon XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM, will also be released and sold in a kit with the new X-T50.

The price for the X-T50 is 15,999 SEK including VAT. The camera is sold in a kit with XF 15-45 for 16,999 SEK, or in a kit with XF 16-50 for 19,999 SEK. The camera will be available from June 2024 in black, silver, and charcoal silver colors.
