Panasonic Lumix S5II & S5IIX get new features with new firmware

Built-in support for Adobe Frame.io, proxy recording capabilities, and improved image stabilization are some of the enhancements in the updates.

Panasonic's full-frame cameras Lumix S5II & S5IIX are now receiving significant updates with new features. Lumix S5II is updated to v3.0 and Lumix S5IIX to v2.0. In 2023, among other things, Lumix S5 II was updated with support for Blackmagic RAW.

In the new update, we find, among other things, built-in support for Adobe's Frame.io with the ability to automatically upload videos and images, via wifi or USB cable. Support is available for both JPEG/RAW and proxy videos.

Proxy recording is now also an option, which allows recording a similar video in low bitrate that is easier to edit, but is linked to the original file during rendering in post-processing.

Real time autofocus Recognition, enables the cameras to recognize people and focus on them quickly and accurately, along with eyes on animals, cars, and motorcycles.

EIS performance is a new mode for electronic video stabilization that corrects for large shakes. The feature also corrects for perspective distortion when used with wide-angle lenses.

SH Pre-Burst Shooting, records a series of images before actually starting to save the pictures.

The updates can be downloaded from Panasonic's website from April 22nd.
